It's easy to embed a dashboard from a third-party app like Power BI into your CRM. Let us show you how in this article!
Prerequisites
You'll need CRM Admin rights in order to follow the steps in this article.
CRM users who want to display a custom Dashboard using a third-party app like Power BI will need the correct license with the other app.
Embedding third-party content requires the URL to be compatible with iframe embedding. Many platforms, for example, provide specific embed links designed to work within third-party systems like Access CRM.
Step 1: Go to System Settings
Go to the System Settings by selecting System Settings in the navigation menu, and search for 'Dashboard' in the search bar. Alternatively, follow this link to take you straight there.
Step 2: Add New Dashboard
Select the plus icon in the top right-hand corner of the Configure Dashboards area, and type in a name for your Dashboard in the Description field.
Step 3: Copy & Paste Embed URL
Then, copy the embed URL from the third-party app. Taking Power BI as an example, simply find the Power BI report you'd like to embed in the CRM, then click 'File', 'Embed Report' and then 'Website or portal' to give you the correct URL.
Paste the hyperlink into the URL field in the CRM, then click the 'Create' button to save this Custom Dashboard and make it available in the drop-down.
If the URL doesn’t load, check if it is a dedicated embed link. Many platforms restrict general links from being embedded.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
If a third-party URL doesn’t load in the dashboard widget:
Verify the URL is a dedicated embed link provided by the third-party service.
Check documentation or support from the third-party platform to identify specific embedding options.
If no embed link exists, explore alternative ways to access the content outside the CRM dashboard.
