The Wine Equalization Tax (WET) is a tax added when wine is purchased or sold within Australia. If you sell wine in Australia, you should take into account the WET Tax on any Quotes. In the CRM, you set the WET Tax per product and this will be automatically added to any Quotes for those Products.

Prerequisites

  • You'll need CRM Admin rights to follow the steps in this article

  • This only applies to customers using the CRM integrated to Cin7 Omni

Enabling the Setting

Step 1: Navigate to System Settings

To configure WET Tax, go to System Settings through the navigation menu. Then, search for "Use WET Tax" or follow this link.

Step 2: Enable WET Tax

Enable the WET Tax by setting the flag to 'Enabled'

Step 3: Configure the Default WET Tax Percentage

You can now set the Default WET Tax Percentage.

How to Use the WET Tax in the CRM

Now that the setting is enabled, you can set the WET Tax on Quotes for the required Products. The WET Tax is configured per Product, where you can set it to 'Yes' or 'No' within the CRM.

Step 1: Setting WET Tax on a Product

Navigate to a Product which should have WET Tax applied, and set the WET Tax flag to 'Yes'.

If this field doesn't show on the record, you may need to customise it in so it's visible.

Step 2: Add the Product to a Quote

Now that you've enabled the setting and set your Products to allow for WET Tax, the WET surcharge added automatically to your Quotes.

Raise a Quote, and add the Products you need! If the Products added are set to have WET Tax applied, the Quote will show the Tax value in the Subtotals section under WET Tax.

Note: when the Order is confirmed into Cin7 Omni, we don't set the WET Tax Status, only add the surcharge. This is due to a limitation in the Cin7 Omni API.
