Ideally, new accounts will be created from the CRM when a customer places their first order. Learn more here on how this can be done via the CRM.

However, if new accounts are being created in the CRM as a prospect, and you're creating the new customer account directly in your ERP system, then this can result in duplicate records being created.

The CRM can detect these duplicate companies, and when this option is enabled, the CRM import will try to avoid duplicates by checking the name and postcode of the new customer against existing CRM Companies. If a match is found, a CRM Company will not be automatically created, instead the record will be flagged as a potential duplicate, and a banner will prompt the user to confirm or reject the match.

Prerequisites

  • You'll need CRM Admin rights in order to follow the steps in this article

Step 1: Go to Settings Centre

To enable this option, head to System Settings in the navigation menu.

Step 2: Navigate to People & Places in Settings

Once within the Settings Centre, search for Duplicate within the search.

Step 3: Enable Detect Duplicates During Automatic Customer Creation

To enable the detection of duplicate companies, simply select 'Enable', and specify the email addresses that should be alerted when duplicates are found. Separate multiple email addresses using a semi-colon (;).
