Using the description-only lines feature on a Quote enables you to quote for products that aren't yet set up in your Inventory Management/ERP system. This is particularly helpful for if you have a large catalogue of products.

Prerequisites

  • You'll need CRM Admin rights in order to follow the steps in this article

Step 1: Go to System Settings

To change the settings for importing images, go to 'Settings' then select 'System Settings'.

Step 2: Navigate to Description Lines Setting

Once within the Settings Centre, search for 'Description Line' in the search bar. Here you can click 'Enable' to turn on the description line feature.

Please note: There's also the option to link this feature to certain products by searching for product you wish to associate in the bar below. E.g. you may have a miscellaneous product set up within your Inventory Management system that you wish to use.

Step 3: Using Description Only Lines

When adding products to your Quote, you'll now have an option to 'Add Description Line' (select the drop-down for this option to show).

Once selected, this will add a description-only line without a product SKU to your Quote. You'll be able to change the description, quantity, price and discount, which will then pull through to your Quote. This means you can quote for services or products that are not set up as products within your Inventory Management system.
