Adding product attributes helps your customers to categorise and sort products more easily on your eCommerce site. In this article, we'll show you how to add an attribute to a product and how to configure a new attribute.

Step 1: Go to System Settings

Go to 'Settings' then select 'System Settings'.

Step 2: Enable Product Attributes

Search for "attribute" in the search bar, and select 'Enable" under this configuration option.

Step 3: Search for a Product

In the Global Search, search for a product. Once you've opened the required product record, navigate to the Web page on the left-hand side.

Step 4: Add an Attribute

Scroll down the page and click 'Add Attributes'.

Step 5: Enter Attribute Name/Search for Existing Attribute

Either search for an existing attribute, or configure a new attribute to be used. To add a new attribute, type in the Attribute Name, and click the plus icon.

Once happy, click 'Add' to assign your Product Attribute to this product.

Step 6: Add Value to Attribute

Now that you've added the Attribute to the product, you need to add the attribute value. For example, the values for the attribute of "Fruit Syrup" could be "Rhubarb", "Strawberry" etc.

To add a value click the '+ Add' button from the attribute you wish to add the value for.

Either search for a value that already exists or choose to create a new attribute value.

Once you've selected the required attribute values, click 'Add' and these values will be added to the selected product.

Step 7: Ordering Product Attribute Values

Once you have added all your attribute values you can also order them. This is so then they show in an order of your choosing on the website for Customers to select. Perfect for making sure all numbers are in order or even making sure certain brands are placed at the top of a list to help the Customer experience.

Navigate to the Product Attribute Value configuration page, here. Or, via the configure button when adding a value.

Once within the Product Attribute Value configuration page, you can drag and drop values to order them using the left-hand button. The Description field represents which Attribute the Value relates to.
